Research School Network: Clips from the Classroom: New classroom practice videos for 2026 Clips from the Classroom returns with new videos offering insights into how evidence-informed approaches look in real classrooms

Charang Bailor presents the launch of the latest additions to the Research Schools Network’s Clips from the Classroom collection.

We’re returning for a third year with Clips from the Classroom, a growing collection of videos created by the Research Schools Network to bring evidence-informed teaching to life. A huge thank you to everyone who has contributed to this year’s release.

This latest launch introduces new videos, each offering a close-up view of teaching in action. Rather than simply describing effective approaches, these clips show how they play out in real classrooms, helping teachers and leaders see what strong implementation looks like in practice.

Turning guidance into day-to-day teaching remains a common challenge. These videos respond to that by focusing on practical application; breaking down how strategies rooted in evidence can be used with pupils, in authentic settings. By anchoring ideas in familiar classroom moments, they make it easier to move from theory to action.

To support this, each video includes built-in pause points, creating space to stop, reflect, and consider how similar approaches might translate into different contexts. This makes them well suited for collaborative use, whether in staff meetings, training sessions, or wider professional learning.

As the resource grows, it offers increasing value for a range of audience, from leaders planning professional development, to teachers trialling new approaches, to teams looking to ground discussion in shared examples. At its core, the collection provides a practical bridge between research evidence and everyday classroom practice.

Some of the latest additions include:

• Manchester Communication Research School – Developing Extended Writing in Practical Subjects, bringing EEF’s guidance on Improving Literacy in Secondary Schools to life.
• Town End Research School – Scaffolding in action: building independence with least support first focusing on effective deployment of TAs to scaffold learning and develop pupils’ independence.
• Essex Research School – More than just a score, looking at the impact and implications of assessing differently at the end of KS1 Maths.

We hope this expanded collection supports more schools and settings to engage with evidence in a meaningful way. We encourage educators to explore the videos together, use them to spark discussion, and consider how the approaches might be adapted within their own contexts.
