Grounded in the latest research and practical strategies, this asynchronous course explores how metacognition underpins effective learning, motivation, and independence.

This course is delivered asynchronously, allowing you to engage with it at your own pace. Each session includes:

> Video training with expert input and pause points for reflection
> A comprehensive workbook to guide learning and action planning
> Suggested readings and gap tasks to apply learning in your own context

These resources are ideal for individual CPD, small group learning, or school-wide training. Designed to support whole-school improvement priorities, they can be led internally by T&L leads, SEND lead or used independently. There are 5 full CPD days worth of content in the course.

> What is Adaptive Teaching? Exploring the definition, purpose, and principles behind adaptive practice
> Maintaining High Expectations for All: Avoiding differentiation by task and focusing instead on support, scaffolding, and guided independence
> Identifying and Responding to Need: Using formative assessment, questioning and observation to adapt teaching in real time
> Practical Strategies: From worked examples and flexible grouping to modelling and pre-teaching vocabulary
> Planning for Adaptation: Embedding adaptive routines into everyday teaching without increasing workload
> Adaptive Teaching for Inclusion: Connecting adaptive practice with the EEF’s Five-a-day for SEND and inclusive pedagogy
> Reflecting and Sustaining Impact: Monitoring effectiveness and refining practice through peer feedback and planning tools
