A living collection of classroom practice in action

Clips from the Classroom harnesses the power of collaborative learning at a scale that is really exciting. The platform enables the sharing of approaches and professional expertise at a level that hasn’t been easily accessible before now. Whenever I deliver professional development or support schools with creating training opportunities we always talk about the value of seeing it in practice’ or hearing from colleagues who are living and breathing’ the approaches. Clips from the Classroom provides schools with these lived experiences at their fingertips to support staff and build professional conversations that take evidence informed practice to the next level.

- Laura Spence, Director of Gloucestershire Research School

These short videos have been created by the Research Schools Network. They provide practitioner reflections and a window into classroom practice with pause points offering questions for reflection. There is also associated research evidence to download should you want to read more around the approaches and explore with colleagues in your setting.

Today we are offering a taster ahead of launching more videos in the new academic year. You can explore the themes of literacy, mathematics, science, learning behaviours and cognitive science. For example, Essex Research School exemplify using paired reading to improve fluency. North London Alliance Research School explore high quality talk in mathematics. Cornwall Research School look at using models to support understanding in science. Kingsbridge Research School are using worked examples in post-16 history.

Please do explore the collection and come back in September when there will be more videos added.

We would like to thank everyone who has been involved in the development of these resources (and continue to be) and for their invitation for us to peek into practice for the purpose of reflecting on our own approaches.
