Evidence Leads in Education Recruitment – April 2020

by Meols Cop Research School
on the

Meols Cop Research School is looking to increase its capacity and is looking to recruit a number of Evidence Leads in Educations (ELE). The ELEs will contribute to evidence informed school improvement and will be designated by Meols Cop Research School, supported by the Education Endowment Foundation.

Duration:
There is no re-defined commitment for the ELE work as models and types of deployment will vary according to need and capacity.

Commitment:
Successful applicants must have a commitment to outreach work, the capacity to undertake such work, and the full support of their headteacher. This will be capped at a maximum of 6 days per academic year (for which the ELEs home school will be recompensed).

Cost:
There is no cost to apply. Successful applicants will be entitled to training at no cost to their school. When outreach is planned and booked the Research School will cover all costs to the ELEs’ home school, including supply cover.

What do you need to be an ELE?

You need to be a great teacher and either a middle or senior leader (at any phase), with the skills and passion to support individuals or teams in similar positions in other schools. You will need to understand what the use of evidence to inform school practice looks like and be skilled in helping other teachers and leaders to achieve it in their own context. It is desirable (though not essential) for you to have led CPD training or INSET for teachers.

What will I do as an ELE?
You will work with Meols Cop Research School to helps schools across the region in implementing evidence informed practice. This may involve leading or co-leading twilight events to communicate latest research findings, delivering on training courses for schools linked to your specialism, or visiting schools to support them in turning theory into practice.

What are the benefits for me and my school?
You will develop as an evidence informed teacher and leader through training provided by Blackpool Research School and supported by the Education Endowment Foundation. You may also have the opportunity to take part in national training and events through our links to the EEF and the wider Research Schools Network.
Your school will benefit from being able to use your expertise and links to further their own development of evidence informed practice.
