Attendees: This series is aimed at school leaders and subject leaders with literacy responsibility including co-ordinators, curriculum leaders and teachers. The training will explore the main recommendations from the EEF Secondary Literacy guidance report.
Programme summary: Our programme aims to help attendees understand more on the evidence base for improving outcomes. Participants will understand how to develop pupils’ reading, writing and oracy across the curriculum. All sessions take place online.
Session 1:Vocabulary, 14 November 2022. Providing targeted vocabulary instruction in every subject.
Session 2: Reading academic texts, 28 November 2022. Developing students’ ability to read complex academic texts.
Session 3: Writing and reading, 16 January 2023. Breaking down complex writing tasks. Combining writing instruction with reading in every subject.
Session 4: Oracy, 30 January 2023. Providing opportunities for structured talk.
Session 5: Literacy interventions, 20 February 2023. Providing high quality literacy interventions for struggling pupils.
Cost: £25 for one session. Discount for multiple Spotlight session bookings made on the same day: two for £45 (save £5), three for £60 (save £15), four for £80 (save £20), five for £90 (save £35), six for £100 (save £50). Attendees from the same school receive a 33% discount when booking the same session(s) as a colleague.
