Over five twilight sessions (April to June) we’ll explore the ‘disciplinary habits of mind’ in different subjects, with a specific focus on reading. And consider strategies that every teacher can use to teach their students to read and communicate effectively in their subject.
The twilights will start with an introduction to Disciplinary Literacy before subject-specific sessions explore English literature, Science, History and Maths.
The programme builds on our Autumn webinars on literacy and strategic reading, with a focus on recommendation one from the EEF Guidance Report on Improving Literacy in Secondary Schools.
You can attend a selection or all of the sessions – schools booking the whole programme can send different members of staff to each of the sessions.
This series is for Secondary school teachers, Heads of Department and Senior Leaders.
The programme will cover Recommendation 1 from the EEF Guidance Report on Improving Literacy in Secondary Schools – ‘Prioritise ‘disciplinary literacy’ across the curriculum’.
