Tackling Disadvantage in Gloucestershire and Beyond

After two successful conferences in 2024 and 2025, we will be hosting our next disadvantage event on Tuesday 13th October 2026 at The Leonardo Hotel in Cheltenham.

Ideal for primary and secondary leaders, teachers and PP leads, the day will feature keynote speakers and expert leaders delivering workshops on a range of topics that matter to you.

Our keynote speakers are:

  • Sonia Thompson: Director of St Matthew’s Research School in Nechells Birmingham and member of The Oracy Commission. Find out more about Sonia on Linked In
  • Harry Madgwick: EFF Senior Content and Engagement Manager. Find out more about Harry
  • Laura Spence: Director of Gloucestershire Research School
  • Jenn Sills: Deputy Director of Gloucestershire Research School

Our workshop topics are:

  • Strong foundations in writing (including handwriting)
  • Oracy
  • Using tools to support disadvantaged leaners
  • Metacognition

Delegates will have the opportunity to attend two workshops and on booking your place, you will be asked to choose your preferred topics.

Being mindful of school budgets, we are resolute in keeping our 2026 delegate cost the same as 2025

So join us for a whole day of expert insight, plenty of collaborative discussions and a hot lunch for just £75 per person!
