We are very proud to be part of the EEF’s Research School Network and to be able to take a leading role in supporting evidence-informed practice across our region and beyond.
About Us:
Don Valley is a vibrant 11 to 16 academy in Doncaster and part of Delta Academies Trust; a large, high performing Trust with over 50 academies across the north of England. At Don Valley and across our wider Trust, research informs both classroom practice and strategic whole school decision making.
We also form part of the wider Exchange Partnership.
The Exchange Partnership is a professional learning community, a collaboration of educators who share and critically evaluate their practice so that all students can reach their potential. From initial teacher training to executive leader development, our offer is informed by the best available evidence brought to life by the experience, wisdom and credibility of local experts.
We have secured £210,000 in funding across three academic years to form The Exchange Research School, joining the Education Endowment Foundation’s (EEF) network of Research Schools across England.
What is a Research School?
Research Schools lead the way in the use of evidence-informed practice. Through the network they share what they know about putting research into practice, and support schools in their region to make better use of evidence to inform and improve their teaching and learning.
They do this by:
- Encouraging schools in their network to make effective use of evidence-informed programmes and practices through regular communication and events
- Providing training and professional development for teachers and senior leaders on how to improve classroom practice based on the best available research and evidence
- Building local capacity to support the use of evidence and evidence-informed practices
Since 2016, the EEF’s Research Schools Network has reached over 10,000 schools across England through training and events on supporting evidence-informed teaching practice and we look forward to being able to add to the capacity of these successful partnerships.
The EEF’s new regional strategy aims to provide direct support around making, and acting on, evidence-informed decisions to schools with high levels of socio-economic disadvantage.
Professor Becky Francis, CEO of the Education Endowment Foundation, said:
“It has never been more important to assist schools in engaging with evidence to inform their approaches to teaching and learning. The appointment these new Research Schools will be a valuable source of support for others in their respective regions, as they strive to meet the needs of their students.“These latest additions to the EEF’s Research Schools Network offer the opportunity to establish new connections, through which schools across England will be able to share expertise and access practical tools, with the view to raising the attainment of all of their pupils, particularly those from disadvantaged backgrounds.”
