Chartered College of Teaching in the East

An update from Kate Sida-Nicholls, Lead Advocate for Chartered College of Teaching, Suffolk and Norfolk SCITT

The Chartered College of Teaching is a professional body led by Dame Alison Peacock which was set up in January 2017. The aims of the Chartered College of Teaching are to equip teachers with:

– access to high quality research
– provide a knowledge platform, networks and events for teaching professionals to discuss ideas
– recognise the expertise of teachers by establishing a Chartered Teaching qualification (for teachers teaching for over three years)
– arrange and deliver a range of professional national and local events

The second national Chartered College of Teaching Conference is being held on Saturday 17^th February 2018 in London. The theme of this year’s conference is Connect;Inform;Inspire and there will be a range of nationally recognised speakers at the event. It will be an opportunity to participate in an evidence-informed event providing a forum for classroom teachers and school leaders to amplify their voice and share their ideas.

As an example of the benefits of becoming a member and the access that you will have to evidence based research, all schools will receive in late January, a copy of a special edition of Chartered College’s journal Impact. It combines articles from previous issues, two posters and assessment tips. Look out for it in your staffroom and please share with colleagues.
