- When you talk with pupils and look at books it becomes very apparent why progress is as it is.
- From September 2019, Ofsted will evaluate the quality and leadership of the wider curriculum. As a result, there will be a a sharper focus placed on the study of books and pupil discussions
- explore how evidence-informed approaches utilising what we know about retrieval practice, spaced practice and elaboration can be effectively utilised and supplement the use of digital technology and development of oracy

Alex will model and demonstrate how pupil book study is used as a quality assurance tool. We will look closely at the components that strengthen or limit pupil understanding, including:
- Knowledge
- Sequence
- Implementation
- Productivity
- Vocabulary
- Transcription
- Clarity & Retention
- Improvement
The day will use the above 8 spotlights to evaluate the quality of learning in books, plan questions to ask pupils and take actions as a result.
The books of 4 pupils – subject books, such as:
history, geography, science and English. Bring several year groups if it helps.
Haverhill:
- 25th June at Park Road 9.30am – 3.30pm
- Follow up: 1/2 day on 27th September 2019 – Morning 9.00am – 12.00pm
