Teaching and Learning Series
This series of three online twilight CPD sessions are designed for early career teachers and NQTs and have been designed specifically to support teachers setting out on their journey in the classroom. They will show practical ways to support and develop skills for teachers on the topics of:
In this final workshop from BCC and EEF’s collaboration on high-impact teaching and learning, participants will interrogate the evidence on improving learner’s memory.
The field of cognitive science is increasingly drawn on by education professionals looking to deliver a knowledge-rich curriculum, but what do we know about its transferability and impact in the classroom? Exploring ‘best bets’ emerging from research conducted with school-aged pupils, this session will develop participants understanding of memory as an integral element of learning and offer a number of practical strategies to test in the classroom.
These sessions have been organised by Bristol City Council and the Bristol Primary Teaching School Alliance in collaboration by the Education Endowment Foundation and the West Somerset Research School and will be presented by:
- Lorwyn Randall (Regional Delivery Lead – South West & South Coast, Education Endowment Foundation) and
- Tom Colquhoun (Assistant Headteacher, Teaching & Learning and Director of West Somerset Research School) with support from EEF and Research School network colleagues.
- Freya Morrissey, ELE at Kingsbridge Research School and Head of English at Teign School.
