We’ve had a busy last week of term delivering training based upon the evidence from EEF reports.
Louise Quinn, Director of Research School, has been working with Stella Jones from our Associate Research School in delivering day two of the three-day training on the recommendations of Metacognition and Self-regulated Learning with staff from the Nicholas Postgate MAT. Guidance report available here. Louise and Stella also led training on the use of retrieval practice with the WISE academies MAT on Thursday.
Memory and the theory and evidence surrounding retrieval practice were used to inform the training delivered by Emma Whillis, Evidence Lead, to the staff at East Durham College as part of their staff conference. Fantastic discussions were had, with great staff engagement on Friday afternoon.
Victoria Richley our Deputy Director of Research School delivered a session at South Tyneside’s Conference on Tuesday. It was a brilliant afternoon working with colleagues across all phases, sharing evidence around Pupil Premium. Victoria encouraged considering the ‘what’ before the ‘how’, dispelled common misconceptions and discussed the importance of high expectations. EEF Pupil Premium guide available here.
Now it’s time for a well deserved half term break, looking forward to collaborating with colleagues next half term.
