An exciting opportunity to develop your staff, benefit your pupils and generate rigorous research evidence

A common misconception about Research Schools is that they do research projects. While this is true, we predominantly focus on using research evidence. However, one of the best ways of becoming more evidence-informed is to help generate research evidence.

If you teach in England, there is a good chance that your school, nursery or college has taken part in one of the 200 evaluations supported by the Education Endowment Foundation (EEF). Find out about the latest projects looking for participants here.

The EEF has funded over 10 per cent of the randomised controlled trials in education. Excitingly, other partners are getting involved in this process and helping to strengthen the evidence base in education.

One such example are our friends at Peertutor who provide a structured approach to peer tutoring, which is a promising approach as identified by the EEF. They are currently planning an innovative evaluation. This is an ideal opportunity to support your students and provide a professional development opportunity for your staff.

Peertutor are looking for schools to help develop and evaluate structured peer tutoring programmes in science. This involves Year 10 students delivering structured peer tutoring lessons to Year 8 pupils and evaluating the intervention as a small scale randomised controlled trial.

You can read more about this opportunity using the attached information sheet and if you would like to know more then get in touch with Wayne Harrison (wayne.harrison@peertutor.com).
