St Marys 101

Lancashire Research School is based at St. Mary’s RC Primary School, Haslingden which is in East Lancashire. St. Mary’s is deemed to be an​‘outstanding’ school by both OFSTED (2013) and the Salford Diocese Schools’ Inspection team (2014). St Mary’s has also been identified amongst the best performing schools in the country from 20162022, in relation to the progress the children make and most significantly the progress and achievement of those from socio-economically disadvantaged backgrounds.


In November 2020, St. Mary’s was selected to form the Lancashire Associate Research School and join the Education Endowment Foundation’s (EEF) Research Schools Network.


From September 2023, Lancashire Research School has been designated to become a full Research School and will be funded until 2026 to work with schools in the North West region to adopt approaches which are evidence based and have a proven track-record of improving outcomes for all learners. The Research School is passionate about being able to promote and exemplify evidence-based practice.
