As our attention turns to the new academic year, we at KYRA Research School are refreshing our approach to the training and support we offer schools. To that effect, we are pleased to present our series of Deep Dives!
Tickets cost £145, for up to two members of staff to attend.
These are sets of two bite-sized online sessions, with a specific focus on areas and issues that schools have told us are important now. We have identified three areas to focus on throughout the Autumn term, as follows:
For Class Teachers and Senior Leaders with a focus on Key Stages 1 to 3.
This deep dive will explore the evidence related to how a meta-cognitive approach to writing can improve outcomes, particularly for disadvantaged children. There is a significant body of evidence that suggests this approach can have a significant positive impact on outcomes when implemented successfully. We will also explore the recent EEF guidance reports for KS1 and KS2, looking at both the evidence base and how this relates to practice.
The evidence will explore self-regulated strategy development (SRSD) and how this enables children to plan, draft and edit their work as well as take greater ownership of the writing process. It will explore cognitive and sociocultural models of writing and we will share a number of tools to use in the classroom.
For Class Teachers and Senior Leaders in any phase.
This deep dive looks at the evidence related to effective feedback and we will explore the recent EEF guidance report, looking at both the evidence base and how this relates to practice. We will share examples of policies and rich reservoir of resources and tools to support implementation and classroom practice.
For Class Teachers and Senior Leaders with a focus on EYFS and Key Stages 1 to 3.
KYRA Research School has developed training in vocabulary which has been used across the national research school network. This deep dive will explore the evidence base and present a model for effective explicit (and implicit) practice. We will also explore the recent EEF Literacy guidance reports looking at both the evidence base and how this relates to practice and share a number of tools and resources to support implementation and practice.
