Reading plays a crucial role in supporting pupils’ attainment, and not just in subjects you might expect. Research by GL Assessment showed strong correlations between reading ability and GCSE
attainment across subjects, including in science, maths and geography. Indeed, Alex Quigley has called reading the master skill of secondary school’ because it is so vital to enabling access to the curriculum.

In this partnership between the Education Endowment Foundation (EEF), Devon County Council and Kingsbridge Research School, we aim to support schools to engage with the best available evidence in order to develop a robust and practical approach to improving reading. We will have a particular focus on reading fluency, but will support schools to implement an approach that is right for their context.

Who for? Executive Head, Head Teacher or nominated Senior Leader

This webinar will introduce the programme, providing the rationale for our approach and our particular focus on supporting reading fluency. We will also explain our implementation methodology so that you are clear from the outset what will be provided and what will be expected. We will share a Memorandum of Understanding with participants who wish to take part in the programme.

Please note that registration for the training programme will open FOLLOWING this webinar.
