Devon RIGHT TO READ: Tackling Educational Disadvantage through Reading

A partnership programme supported by the Education Endowment Foundation (EEF)

The Right to Read programme was born out of a partnership working group exploring ways to tackle the stubborn achievement gap for disadvantaged pupils in Devon. The partnership includes the Education Endowment Foundation, Babcock LDP, The Diocese, Teaching Schools South West, Kingsbridge Research School and representation from FE/Special School and school leadership.

This is a new programme focussing on ensuring all children become effective readers.

The initial project will run three times from the beginning of summer term 2021 to the end of summer term 2022 with a focus on the teaching of reading in years 3 and 4. The programme will involve schools in accessing:

An EEF 3 day Literacy training delivered through Kingsbridge Research School
Local networks facilitated by our Right to Read Practice Partners
An additional opportunity for some schools to receive on-site support through our Right to Read Practice Partners
