South Central Teaching School Hub is delighted to partner with The HISP Research School to offer the Making the Difference for Disadvantaged Pupils Programme to school leaders across Dorset, Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole.
Making the Difference for Disadvantaged Pupils is one of the Education Endowment Foundation’s core programmes. This programme is designed to support school leaders in making evidence informed decisions regarding how best to support their disadvantaged pupils. Every school, their staff and their pupils, have been impacted in some way by Covid-19. And whilst schools have managed the crisis with characteristic care, determination and resilience, the disruption to learning will mean that many pupils will have fallen behind. Participants in this programme will be supported to:
Use a tiered approach for reviewing their whole-school Pupil Premium Strategy that meets the needs of all learners
Accurately identify key priorities within teaching & learning, targeted support and whole school strategies to tackle educational disadvantage in their context
Apply the principles of effective implementation to embed and sustain the processes, practices and programmes in their strategy
Monitor and evaluate the impact of their strategy to adapt / sustain approaches according to pupil needs
The programme includes:
9 x 1 hour online after school webinars
Actions by the school leaders attending the course in between the sessions
Follow-on support
The programme modules are:
1. Introduction and pre-tasks
2. The role of evidence in meeting the needs of children most at risk of underachieving
3. Analysing existing issues and strategies
4. The tiered approach
5. Identifying solutions
6. Preparing through implementation planning
7. Writing an implementation plan
8. Understanding effective delivery, monitoring & evaluation
9. Follow-on support
