The HISP Research School is based at Thornden School in Chandlers Ford, Eastleigh. As one of the new Research Schools in the national network, HISP Research School aims to work collaboratively with schools to help bridge the gap between research evidence and classroom practice. Over the last few years we have worked closely with many schools across Hampshire, The Isle of Wight, Southampton and Portsmouth. We therefore made the decision to name our Research School HISP Research School at Thornden’ to further reinforce our collaborative approach across our region and indeed beyond.

As a Research School our core purpose is to:

  • share and disseminate the very best of evidence-based practice to schools and teachers across the South and South West.
  • help teachers and leaders to mobilise the research evidence into their classrooms.
  • help to exemplify and unpick the key recommendations of the EEF Guidance Reports in order to understand what they actually look like in schools and in the classroom.
  • provide evidence-based training.
