There is much conversation in educational circles about the benefits of metacognition and self-regulated learning, especially for disadvantaged learners.
In this session, Jess Hutchison, Gloucestershire Research School Deputy Director and Chris Nicholas of Pates Grammar School, will walk and talk you through the guidance report. We will explore the strategies involved in developing learners’ metacognition and self-regulation, as well as providing and provide useful reflection and discussion time to think about what this means for learners in your setting.
Aims of the session:
- Understand what is meant by metacognition and self-regulation
- Walkthrough of the guidance and recommendations, building understanding of the available evidence
- Collaborate and build networks with colleagues and the Gloucestershire Research School team
This course is ideal for primary and secondary leaders and teachers with responsibility for professional development.
