Research Advocate, Phonics and Literacy Senior Leader

Jessica Ballard is an experienced educational leader with expertise in literacy and phonics. She serves as an Assistant Headteacher, Literacy Specialist with New Vision England, Phonics Lead for the Learning Pathway Trust, and Key Stage 1 Lead. Additionally, she is a Designated Safeguarding Lead, a Specialist Leader of Education, and a facilitator for NPQLBC training with Ambition Institute.

Jessica has mentored numerous SCITT trainees, facilitated the Teach Reading Group Programme for the New Vision English Hub, and worked as an English Hub auditor.

Jessica led the development and implementation of a phonics programme now adopted across her Trust. As a Literacy Specialist, she has supported schools in Essex and London for 2 – 3 years, delivering tailored training and coaching for reading leaders, and collaborating with senior leadership teams to develop and monitor action plans. Her work has significantly improved phonics screening check (PSC) results, upskilled staff, and fostered a culture of reading for pleasure. She is a fantastic asset to our team.

Jessica is deeply committed to ensuring that all children, regardless of background, leave primary school as confident, competent, and enthusiastic readers.
