Darryl Crawley

ELE, Headteacher at Heathlands Primary School

Darryl is an experienced school leader with over twelve years of leadership experience across a range of roles, including Headship, Teaching and Learning Lead, and Lead Coach. His expertise spans curriculum design, assessment, feedback, and behaviour, with a particular focus on implementing research-informed approaches to teaching and learning.

A Fellow of the Chartered College of Teaching (FCCT), Darryl has completed Ambition Institute’s Teacher Education Fellowship, where he developed expertise in using research and evidence to design and deliver high-quality professional development. He also holds the NPQH and is a recognised coach through Steplab’s Coaching Course, further strengthening his leadership of effective in-house training and school improvement strategies.

Passionate about professional learning, Darryl has led the introduction of weekly professional development sessions and coaching programmes within schools. He has supported the implementation of whole-class feedback approaches, standardised assessment practices, and innovative curriculum design. Darryl has worked with schools to embed Google for Education and, throughout his career, has tutored and mentored trainee teachers and senior leaders.

In addition to his work as an ELE and Headteacher, Darryl is a facilitator on the NPQSL, supporting school leaders to develop evidence-informed teaching and learning practices. He is committed to helping teachers and leaders embed research-led strategies that raise academic standards and enhance pupil outcomes.
