Supporting the return to school

As children come into schools, they’ll have a range of needs.
Many will welcome the return to the safe routines and learning that school provides but may need extra help and support.
Some will have needs which schools might wish to anticipate and prepare for.
Some will be in crisis and need intensive, specialist support.
Newham Learning and the East London Research School are offering a package of support and professional learning which draws on 2 key EEF guidance documents: Improving Social and Emotional Learning and Improving Behaviour in Schools. If you’re working in a school that’s part of Newham Learning, please sign up online – it will just take a few minutes. If you’re not a member of Newham Learning but you’d like to access content from this programme please get in touch with us.
The programme is all online and will start in the week beginning 8th June. You can access the programme flexibly each week, at times which suit you.
We know that many teachers and leaders are already experts in these areas. This package will provide tools for thinking and analysis, review and planning, so that whole-school approaches can successfully be developed
The programme will give leaders rapid access to the evidence, using materials from the EEF: it will help us to feel prepared and that we have thought through issues in advance. In turn, that will help us to prepare our teams for the challenges to come in the summer and autumn.
