The Harris Teaching School Hubs are delighted be working in partnership with the East London Research School to deliver their 6 session training programme on Metacognition and Self-Regulated Learning.
This will be hosted online by Dr. Julian Grenier from the East London Research School, Kirsteen Newell and Cate Peeters, Evidence Leads in Education.
On the 2nd of November we held a free taster session for anyone wishing to look more closely at Metacognition and Self-Regulated Learning in advance of the 6‑session programme to be run in the Spring and Summer terms.
The use of ‘metacognitive strategies’ – which get pupils to think about their own learning – can be worth the equivalent of an additional +7 months’ progress when used well. However, less is known about how to apply them effectively in the classroom. This 6‑part programme aims to provide participants with this knowledge to improve teaching in their schools.
