This week we were delighted to hear the news that we will be continuing with our work as a Research School, until at least 2026. You can read more about this here. Over the past three years, our partnership work with schools across West Sussex, East Sussex, Brighton & Hove and Kent has resulted in us working alongside leaders from 379 schools. We are incredibly excited that we will be able to continue to develop these partnerships next year, as well as developing a new partnership with the The Kemnal Academies Trust (TKAT).

Alongside this news, we are also really excited to announce a new Director for the Durrington Research School. As from September 2022, our current Director Shaun Allison will be taking on a new role as co-Headteacher at Durrington High School. This means that Chris Runeckles will be the Director of the Durrington Research School.

I am thrilled to be taking over as Director of Durrington Research School. Having worked on our original application in 2016 I have been in role as Assistant Director ever since. As such, I have built up substantial knowledge of and expertise in both the research school network and the communication, training and partnership work that we deliver. Succeeding Shaun is of course daunting as I know first-hand what he has been able to achieve over the past 5 years. However, with his support I am confident that I will be able to take Durrington Research School forward and expand our reach and influence in developing rich, evidence-informed practice across our region that focuses most particularly on the EEF’s core mission of breaking the link between family income and academic outcomes.”

I am absolutely delighted that Chris will taking on the role of Director of the Durrington Research School. Chris and I were part of the team who submitted the original application to become a Research School in 2016. Since then, alongside the rest of the brilliant Durrington team, we have worked together to support leaders from across our region to use the evidence to address the challenges faced by their schools. Chris is incredibly passionate about this work and I know that he will take our work from strength to strength, as we enter this next exciting stage of our Research School journey.
