This programme looks at the evidence around teacher development and how this can be used to implement a cohesive and effective CPD strategy across a schools.
Who is it aimed at?
Leaders in primary or secondary schools who lead on teacher development and or quality of teaching
What will be covered?
- School leader and teacher beliefs about teacher development will be shared, explored and challenged
- Knowledge of curriculum, pedagogy and learning to better identify pupils’ needs and teachers’ development needs.
- A discussion of current CPD practices.
- Evidence informed structures and systems around effective teacher development.
What will you know/be able to do by the end of the programme?
- Review and evaluate existing approaches to teacher development.
- Produce a detailed and coherent implementation plan for teacher development across your school/s, including your to evaluate its impact.
- Feel confident to deliver this implementation plan in your school.
What will be the potential impact on teachers and pupils as a result of this training?
- Improved professional development systems and practices.
- Embedding evidence informed teaching across your school/s.

Shaun Allison
Director, Durrington Research School
Shaun is the Director of the Durrington Research School and Durrington Multi Academy Trust (DMAT) Head of School Improvement. He leads on teacher development across DMAT, and is the author of four books on education, including the award winning ‘Making every lesson count’. He writes the influential Class Teaching blog.
Chris Runeckles
Assistant Director, Durrington Research School
Chris is a history teacher and Assistant Director of the Research School. He has worked at Durrington High School for 8 years and is currently an Assistant Headteacher with responsibility for teaching and learning. Chris is also the author of a book on evidence-informed history teaching.
