This programme is offered through the EEFective Kent Project (EKP), a collaboration between Kent County Council and the EEF. Through the project, the cost of this programme has been subsidised as part of their dedication to support the implementation of evidence-based approaches and interventions in Kent.

Overview

This programme was designed as a Chapter 2’ to the Tackling Educational Disadvantage
programme previously delivered in Kent by Durrington Research School. However, engaging in that programme is not a requirement for taking part in From Mitigation to Success. The programme supports schools to drill down’ further into the specific issues they are facing with regards to tackling disadvantage and guides them to adapt their approaches accordingly.

The programme includes tailored support for schools around their own use of Pupil Premium and is led by Marc Rowland, an adviser for improving outcomes for disadvantaged learners for the Unity Schools Partnership, a large crossphase Multi Academy Trust based in the East of England. It will support you to implement evidence-informed processes, practice and programmes as part of your Pupil Premium strategy and aligns with the DfE’s requirement for strategy documents to reference research evidence.

Participants will:

  • Examine what the evidence says about supporting disadvantaged and vulnerable learners
  • Discuss and explore how to use Pupil Premium to have the best impact
  • Look at specific, research-based strategies to take to implement in own school settings
  • The programme will be delivered across three face-to-face days at Kent Associate Research School.
