Following the success of our literacy community of practice Expertise Exchange, we are hosting an online event to showcase the wealth of knowledge and expertise from across the network.

The event may be of particular interest to colleagues in your core and extended teams who have attended Evidence Essentials or the Expertise Exchange, but also please share where appropriate with those in your wider network. Delegates can hear from a range of speakers from early years to secondary and opt-in to workshops throughout the day on the broad themes of reading, writing and oral language.

Speakers include:

  • Stella Jones and John Rodgers (RSN content leads)
  • Alice Deignan (Professor of Applied Linguistics at the University of Leeds) with Marcus Jones (Huntington RS).
  • Alex Fairlamb and Louise Quinn (Shotton Hall)
  • Marc Rowland (exploring the importance of literacy in addressing disadvantage)
  • Chloe Butlin (literacy content specialist for the EEF)
  • Mark Miller (Bradford RS)
  • Claire Williams (Alexandra Park RS)

And others to be confirmed.

“The language gap and links to socioeconomic disadvantage are well documented. Every moment in school needs to be a language development and comprehension moment.”
