This week the Yorkshire and Humber Research Schools have been exploring the theme of transition. Transition points in schools can be associated with a dip in attainment, particularly in literacy and numeracy.
According to the EEF, reasons for this, include:
• lack of curriculum continuity and difficulties adapting to academic challenges;
• lack of familiarity with school systems, routines and expectations; and
• issues with developing healthy peer networks.
