This 2‑part webinar is aimed at teachers of mathematics in key stages 2, 3, and 4, and maths leaders.
Part 1: checking for understanding (Wednesday 23 September 2026)
Discussion of‘checking for understanding’ can too often focus on techniques over principles. Techniques are important, but should only form a part of the conversation.
This session will focus on what effective ‘checking’ looks like, including the development of a toolkit of pupil response techniques which focus on understanding the thinking of all pupils.
Part 2: adapting teaching (Wednesday 30 September 2026)
If we take time to check, we must make time to adapt. This session will focus on techniques and strategies that can be woven into everyday practice in order to support all pupils in being successful.
Both sessions will be interactive (although they will not use breakout rooms) and will feature video exemplification and tools to support continuing the conversation in your school.
