Welcome to the Aspirer Research School Manchester Hub. We were set up just before the summer holidays in 2019 but have only really been active since September. We are an extra arm for the Aspirer Research School based in Macclesfield. Our aim is to help to support schools in and across Manchester access and learn from relevant research. A bit of background about Wilbraham – we are a 3 form entry school, with nearly 700 pupils on role, we have 32% FSM, 13% SEN and nearly 70% EAL. We joined the Aspirer Multi Academy Trust in 2018 and have really benefitted from becoming a member. We are able to offer a lot of EAL support and expertise to the other schools in the MAT and they offer their support to us in return. The Research Hub is led by Sarah Izon and Steve Wheeldon. Sarah is in her 11th year of teaching. She has been an Evidence Lead in Education for the Aspirer Research School for a year and is also the Y3/4 Middle Leader and the Literacy Co-ordinator. Steve is in his 11th year as Head and his 25th in teaching! He is also a Local Leader in Education (LLE). Helen Wright will also be leading maths training at the Hub. Helen has worked at Wilbraham since 1996 across both key stages and been the maths lead for many years. She has completed MAST training and have an MSc in STEM Education. Recently, she took on an SLE role and have supported schools both in the MAT and also across Cheshire. We already have some opportunities for you to come and meet us and see what we have to offer you and your school.
