It has been nearly two months since our last update and time seems to have flown by! We have started taking small steps into sharing the research with schools and colleagues in Manchester and we are really looking forward to even more events in 2020.
We have finally finished organising all the brilliant Guidance Reports from the EEF in our Conference Room and we are all pleased with how it looks. It makes sharing the reports much easier as we can see where everything is!
Research Breakfasts
We have had two Research Breakfasts so far: one looking at Literacy and one looking at Maths. These have been well attended and the feedback has been very positive. The Heads and members of SLT who attended were really surprised by the amount of research that was available to them and they were excited about the opportunities the Research Hub could provide for them.
We have 2 more Research Breakfasts lined up for 2020 – Metacognition and SEL. More information can be found here:

SEL – https://researchschool.org.uk/aspirer/event/social-and-emotional-learning-research-breakfast/
Research Twilights
Following on from the Breakfasts, we have run two twilight sessions: one looking at Literacy and one looking at Maths. These twilights are an informal, non-threatening way to get a really good overview of the EEF Guidance Reports and you get your own copies to take home for further reading! These are free to attend and we will be booking in some more next year that look at some of the other Guidance Reports so again, keep following us on Twitter!

Social and Emotional Learning Guidance Report
We have met up with Dr Michael Wigelsworth, from Manchester University, who was part of the Review Team for this report. We had a brilliant discussion about the report and the video interview is available on the Aspirer Research School website – https://researchschool.org.uk/aspirer/news/improving-social-and-emotional-learning-in-primary-schools‑1/
We have also booked Michael to join us at a Research Breakfast to help guide schools through an audit of their own SEL provision. We attended one he did at the University and it was fantastic – it really helped you reflect on your own school and see which areas need some further development.
