The successful conclusion of another year’s deep professional learning was celebrated at Ash Grove Academy, Macclesfield when the teachers and schools involved in the Raising Attainment in the Early Years Project met to share their stories. For the second year, Cheshire East LA Early Years Team (Pauline Austin and Alex Sefton) have partnered with the Aspirer Research School team to provide a rich, responsive, evidence driven professional learning programme designed to support schools translate the research evidence into practice. We were joined by four outstanding Keynote speakers; Professor Courtney Norbury (UCL), Professor Dominic Wyse (UCL_IoE), Stephen Parsons (Word Aware, NAPLIC) and Dr Lesley Curtis, Head Teacher of Everton Nursery and Family Centre. The day was a celebration of research and practice, theory to action and the powerful positive impact this has had on children’s attainment in communication, language and literacy in the Early Years.

Many thanks to all who were involved! It was a marvellous celebration of what can be done if we pay very close attention to and respond to the children in front of us.
