In March 2018, we were delighted that Emily was awarded Reading for Pleasure Teacher of the Year 2018. The award was the last, wonderful, piece of a research journey she had been involved in for the past year. The journey started when she attended a conference held at Ash Grove Academy and listened to Professor Teresa Cremin share her research on the importance of encouraging children who read, for pleasure. In this video diary, Emily shares her research journey and the impact it has had. Scroll down to see some photos of the reading area of her classroom and watch the video.
A welcoming book area with opportunities to read and share.
