She is interested is the link between research and educational practice and believes that evidence based approaches are the best to way to improve classroom practice, increase student progress and to empower teachers through their own continuing profession development.

Florence began her teaching career in a range of Leeds comprehensives and is an English specialist who worked as Head of English before taking up her current role. She has a particular interest in the teaching of Literature and is interested in how the subject content of traditional academic disciplines such as Literature might be rendered powerful’ to students who may instinctively feel alienated by them. Florence also has an interest in how all forms of feedback might be used more productively and effectively in essay based subjects to both reduce teacher workload and become a more genuine support for student progress.

In her spare time Florence enjoys reading, travelling to hot parts of Europe and completing Parkrun very slowly (although she is speeding up a bit now she spends most of her time running around after her one year old son!).
